INVESTING IN COMMODITIES

If you can't beat them, try and make money off of them. I have been real hesitant about trying out the commodity market, I did want to take the chance thought it was too risky until now. I came across an ETF that I think fits the bill it gives you access to a diversified market that is in demand.

PowerShares DB Commodity Idx Trking Fund (DBC)

The investment seeks to reflect the performance of the Deutsche Bank Liquid Commodity index. The fund will pursue its investment objective by investing in a portfolio of exchange-traded futures on the commodities comprising the index, or the index commodities. The index commodities are light, sweet crude oil, heating oil, aluminum, gold, corn and wheat. The index is composed of notional amounts of each of the index commodities. The notional amounts of each index commodity are broadly in proportion to historical levels of the world’s production and supply.

The Index Commodities are traded on the following futures exchanges:

Light, Sweet Crude Oil and Heating Oil: New York Mercantile Exchange
Aluminum: The London Metal Exchange Limited
Gold: Commodity Exchange Inc., New York
Corn and Wheat: Board of Trade of the City of Chicago Inc.
